How to Disable your Pop-up Blocker
1
If you are using software that disables pop-up browser windows (such as the Google toolbar or Internet Explorer 6), you may need to disable this feature for 'www.TaxAct.com' in order to complete your tax return. TaxAct Online uses pop-up windows in various places throughout the program as you prepare and file your tax return.

Internet Explorer

Information for disabling the pop-up blocker in Internet Explorer can be found at Microsoft's Pop-up Blocker: Frequently Asked Questions

FireFox

Firefox provides information on pop-ups and how to disable the blocker at Firefox Help

Netscape

To allow pop-ups for a particular site you need to show all pop-ups:

  1. Click on the bottom right of the browser window labeled Security Center, and choose the Popup Blocking option.
  2. Please review the settings and make changes as necessary.

Opera

To allow pop-ups for a particular site you need to show all pop-ups:

  1. Click the 'Tools' menu at the top of your browser, and choose 'Preferences'
  2. Click 'Pop-Ups' and Hit drop down arrow to 'Show All Popups'

Additionally, In Opera 8 and higher, when you come across a page that has a popup, a box will appear in the upper right corner stating that it disabled the window from popping up. When this little window appears, you can click it and it will open the window for you (in the window itself, it displays text that the window was blocked and that if the user clicks on the window, the blocked window will open).

Google Toolbar

You can disable pop-up blocking for a particular site such as TaxAct Online by simply clicking the pop-up blocker button on the Google toolbar after you have logged into TaxAct Online.

Norton Internet Security

  1. Open Norton Internet Security.
  2. Double-click 'Ad Blocking'.
  3. Disable 'Turn on Pop-up Window Blocking'.
  4. Click 'OK'.
  5. Restart your computer.

Other pop-up blockers

These include: Netscape 7, the Yahoo Toolbar, and the MSN Toolbar. These follow a similar procedure to that for Internet Explorer 6 where you add the site (Ex: www.TaxAct.com) to a list of trusted sites.

Third Party Blockers

Click on each icon in your System Tray located by the clock in the lower-right corner of your screen. Close or temporarily disable any programs that are installed to block popup windows.

You will need to consult the documentation that came with the popup blocker program installed on your system as we are unable to advise how to disable every manufacturer's software product.
