The TaxACT consumer 1040 programs which include the TaxACT Free Federal Edition and TaxACT Deluxe Edition release in both a preview version and a final version. The preview version is available to download only around the first week of October. The final version usually releases around January 5. If you ordered the program on CD-ROM, we will ship this out to you within 3 business days of the final product releasing. Please allow 2-10 business days for delivery.
TaxACT Online users may also begin using the preview version of TaxACT Online in October. The final version will then be available in January. TaxACT Online is only available for individual 1040 returns.
The TaxACT consumer Business Editions (1065, 1120, and 1120S) are not available in preview versions and are typically released mid to late January as final versions.
The TaxACT Professional Federal programs including the TaxACT Preparer's 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120S also release in both a preview version and a final version. The preview version is available to download around the first week of October and will also be shipped on CD-ROM (if ordered). The final version of the Preparer's 1040 Federal program usually releases around January 5. The Business Editions are typically released mid to late January. We will also send out the final versions of the programs once they release on CD-ROM (if ordered).
You may download the preview version of the software programs once they are released by signing in to your account using your Customer ID and Password at the Sign In location. Once you are signed in, you will need to locate and click on All Downloads.
