If you have already downloaded and installed a copy of the current year version of TaxAct, you can verify that you have the latest version at any time.

TaxAct Consumers

To update your version of TaxAct or to verify that you have the most current version:

1. Click on Online in the upper menu of the TaxAct program.
2. Click on Check for Updates.
3. Follow the instructions to choose the federal or state update required to complete the update.

This process will verify that you have the latest version of the program that is available. Any data entered into TaxAct will be automatically retained when an update is installed. Your data will not be lost when upgrading your product to the latest version.

TaxAct Professional Preparers

Starting with the 2009 editions, Professional Preparers can access all return types from the same program once they are installed. You will still need to obtain updates for each program, but you can initiate this process from the same location.

To check for updates to your TaxAct Preparer's program:

1. Click on Online in the upper menu of the TaxAct Professional Preparer's program.
2. Click on Check for Updates.
3. Follow the instructions to choose the federal or state update required to complete the update.
