Form 4868 - Printing a Copy
1

If you need to print a copy of Form 4868 (Automatic Extension of Time to File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return) that you completed with TaxAct there are two methods of doing so. Both options are detailed below.

One method is to return to the extension steps and after reviewing your entries you may print a copy of the form. Note. Although the current date is requested in this process the date is not printed on the 4868.

From the Filing section:

  1. Go to www.taxact.com (clicking this link will open a new window).
  2. In the upper right corner of the page, click Sign In.
  3. Enter your Username and Password and click Next.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of your Account Management page and click My Taxes.
  5. Find the return you used to complete the extension and click Open Return
  6. Select Filing
  7. Click File Extension (Desktop users, located directly below the tabs).
  8. The program will proceed with the interview questions for you to review. On the screen titled Form 4868-Filing, you will have the option to print.

The second method is to go to the Print Center and use the Custom Print option. This process requires any applicable product fee to have been paid. This menu may not appear on devices with smaller screens.

From Custom Print:

  1. From within your TaxAct Online return, click Print Center in the left column.
  2. Click Custom
  3. Click the checkbox to the left of Form 4868. You may have to scroll down in the section to locate the item.
  4. Click Print and then click the PDF link. Click the printer icon or the save icon (available when you hover your mouse over the bottom of the PDF form) to print or save the PDF copy.

Note: If you see a message indicating you have not paid your return fees, click the View/Pay link, which will direct you through the Paper Filing steps. Continue through the screens until you have processed the payment for your product fees and then repeat the steps to print.
