TaxAct® will use the larger of your New York standard deduction or itemized deduction. The New York itemized deduction is not the same as the federal itemized deduction amount. The New York amount is reduced by the state taxes deducted on the federal Schedule A. There are also reductions if your AGI is over $100,000. This calculation is done on a New York Form IT-201-D or IT-203-D.

To view this form in TaxAct Online:

  1. Click the Forms tab on the right side of the screen
  2. Click View complete Forms list at the bottom of the box
  3. Expand the NY Forms view, then the Forms and Schedules view
  4. Click Form IT-201-D Resident Itemized Deduction Schedule or Form IT-203-D Nonresident and Part-Year Resident Itemized Deduction Schedule
