Stressed over the dates? No worries! TaxACT wants to make sure you've got the information you need regarding the upcoming tax filing deadline.

Federal Tax Filing Deadline

The due date for the U.S. Individual Income Tax Return for tax year 2013 is April 15, 2014. Typically all states comply with the federal guidelines, but it is recommended that you check with your individual state taxing authority to confirm the deadline. See State Return Due Dates for additional details.

For a list of information you will need to prepare your taxes, see TaxACT's Tax Return Checklist.

Can't finish in time?  Don't worry!  File an extension for free!

If you are unable to complete your return before the April 15th deadline, there is no need to worry. You can file IRS Form 4868 for a 6-month filing extension with TaxACT for free.

Important: Filing an extension only extends the time to file your return until October 15th and does not extend the time to pay any tax due. To avoid late payment penalties and interest, estimate your federal (and state, if applicable) taxes in TaxACT for free, then pay as much as possible when you e-file your extension.

To learn how to file an extension, please see Filing an Extension.
