Topic:  TD Ameritrade - GainsKeeper.com Import Function

TD Ameritrade

TD Ameritrade users do not need a CSV file to import their transactions into TaxACT. Using your TD Ameritrade account information, you can import your transactions into TaxACT using the GainsKeeper import feature.

You will need to know your TD Ameritrade account number and the PIN associated with your account. If you do not know your PIN, you will need to contact your TD Ameritrade representative to obtain this information.

To import your TD Ameritrade account information into TaxACT, follow the steps below (Note: if you are using a TaxACT Business Product, click File > Import > GainsKeeper Data).

  1. From within your TaxACT return (Online or Desktop) click on the Federal Q&A tab
  2. Click Investment Income to expand the section, then click Gain or loss on the sale of investments
  3. Click on GainsKeeper.com Import
  4. Click Import from GainsKeeper to enter your login information

On the GainsKeeper login screen you will enter your account information as follows:

For the GainsKeeper.com Login ID, you will enter your TD Ameritrade account number followed by “@amtd” (without the quotes). Example: 123456789@amtd.

For the GainsKeeper.com Password, you will enter your TD Ameritrade PIN. If you do not know your PIN, contact your TD Ameritrade representative.

If you are having troubling importing from GainsKeeper, you may want to try a CSV import through TradeLog. TaxACT has partnered with TradeLog to offer its customers a solution for calculating capital gains on Schedule D.
