To download a CSV file from Fidelity for import into your TaxACT return, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Fidelity website
  2. Click the Log In link to log into your account
  3. Click the Accounts & Trade tab from the main navigation
  4. When the Accounts and Trade page is open, select an account with taxable income
  5. When the account is selected, click the More tab
  6. From the More tab, click the Tax Info (Year-to-Date) link
  7. From the Tax Information screen, if you have short-term realized gains/losses, click the Details link next to Net Short-Term to view short-term transactions. From the following short-term realized gain/loss screen, click the Download link to generate a short-term CSV file. Save the .CSV file to a location on your computer.
  8. From the Tax Information screen, if you have long-term realized gains/losses, click the Details link next to Net Long-Term to view long-term transactions. From the following long-term realized gain/loss screen, click the Download link to generate a long-term CSV file. Save the .CSV file to a location on your computer.
  9. Import the short-term and long-term files into TaxACT

If you should need additional assistance while retrieving your .CSV file from the broker, please contact their support department for further information.

You should compare the CSV or Excel file you obtain from your broker with the information that was reported to you on Form 1099-B. All transactions reported on Form 1099-B need to be included in your CSV or Excel file. If there are ANY transactions missing from your CSV or Excel file, you will need to manually add these transactions to your file before importing into TaxACT.
