To update your version of TaxACT or to verify that you have the most current version:

1. Click on "Online" in the upper menu of the TaxACT program.
2. Click on "Check for Updates"
3. Follow the instructions to select the federal and/or state update required to complete the update.

This process will verify that you have the latest version of the program that is available. Any data entered into TaxACT will be automatically retained when an update is installed. Your data will not be lost when upgrading your product to the latest version.

Starting in 2009, Professional Preparers can access all return types from the same program once they are installed. As such, a professional preparer will still need to obtain updates for each program, however can initiate this process from the same location.

To check for updates to your TaxACT Preparer's program:

1. Click on "Online" in the upper menu of the TaxACT Professional Preparer's program.
2. Click on "Check for Updates"
3. Click on the program you wish to update.
4. Follow the instructions to select the federal and/or state update required to complete the update.
