California - Business Entity Identifying Number

California has three different identifying numbers for their business returns.
  • California Corporation Number: An 8 digit number beginning with ‘C.’ In the TaxACT program, you will need to enter the 7 digits following the ‘C.’
  • Secretary of State (SOS) Number: A 12 digit number beginning with ‘19’ or ’20.’
  • LLC Temp Number: A 9 digit number.

You can use the California Secretary of State website to determine your entity's California ID number and type.
