If your child was born during the tax year, they are still considered a dependent for the whole year, even if your child was born on the last day of the year.

To add your newborn child as a dependent (if you need help accessing the Dependent section of the Q&A, go to our Dependents - Adding in Program FAQ):

1. From within the Dependent section of the Q&A, on the screen titled Tell us more about your dependent, scroll down to Did dependent live with you for the whole year? 
   
2. Answer Yes if they were born anytime during the year.
