Data Warehousing Business Intelligence Analyst

TaxACT of Cedar Rapids, Iowa is looking for an outstanding candidate to fill our Data Warehousing Business Intelligence Analyst role. TaxACT is embarking on a new data warehousing initiative and we need someone to help us build this new solution. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and creating the business model, leveraging methods and tools to analyze and assess business performance, and reporting of data exceptions and discrepancies.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate data and ensure integrity and completeness of data and workflow using SQL.
  • Assist in developing and designing departmental databases leveraging dimensional modeling principles.
  • Facilitate all aspects of testing from strategy, scripting and execution.
  • Manage tools to monitor and analyze the quality of the Data Warehouse environment.
  • Design and develop standard dashboards/reports that provide overarching view across the company, using data gathered from multiple sources.
  • Evaluate departmental data and generate reports, graphs, forecasts, and trend analysis to assist in planning endeavors.
  • Assist in providing critical information to support regular evaluation: including data collection, data retrieval, data analysis, and preparation of reports.

Qualification

  • BA/BS degree in related field.
  • 3+ years experience in IT in a corporate environment.
  • 3+ years of requirements coordination/generation.
  • 3+ years SQL, data analysis/profiling.
  • 3+ years experience implementing a BI/DW Infrastructure on a large scale: ETL, Data Warehouse, Data Marts, and Analytics.
  • Understands concepts such as Extract Transform Load (ETL) and source to target mappings.
  • Understands facts, dimensions, and associative entities.
  • Familiar with Data modeling and understanding of modeling methodologies (ex. 3rd normal form - Bill Inmon, dimensional modeling – Ralph Kimball, ODS).
  • Hands-on experience with report writing tools such as SSRS.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Consulting experience desired.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, multi-task and work proactively and independently.

We are seeking Software Engineers to join our Web, Mobile and Application development teams. Our developers ensure that the company software components are skillfully designed, tested, debugged, and validated. Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing high quality software applications that will be used by a large number of online and mobile customers
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Marketing and Product Managers to design, implement and test software applications
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, and to improve performance

Tax Analyst

TaxACT is hiring full-time accountants interested in income tax and able to work in a competitive, fast-paced industry. This position will involve researching, designing, implementing and supporting our income tax preparation software. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is flexible, proficient in multi-tasking and eager to learn.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and stay current with state and federal tax law.
  • Develop interview questions that software users will answer in order to accurately complete their tax returns.
  • Design all aspects of user-friendly program screens, including calculations and functionality.
  • Implement, test and support federal and state software.

Skills and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Programming experience is not required.

TaxACT is looking for a User Experience / Technology Design Lead who will be responsible for establishing the digital product identity for a software portfolio used by nearly 7 million consumers, professionals and small business owners every year. Primary Responsibilities

As a User Experience Lead you will be the primary contributor for a small, focused yet nimble UX team dedicated to creating efficient, effective and delightful product experiences that artfully unify customer needs with business goals. You will:

  • Understand the user experience strategy for a product and drive the overall design solutions based on usability, intuitiveness, consistency, delightfulness, business goals and time to market
  • Be accountable for the delivery, quality, and success of the user experience for a product or business throughout the entire lifecycle, including optimization and innovation with new features
  • Work collaboratively within an agile product team made up of product managers, engineers, and fellow UXers to deliver world-class product experiences through iterative releases

Skills and Requirements

To be a successful user experience lead, you must be a well-rounded design thinker, grounded in logic, structure and process but with a flair for visual and emotional solutions, have an interest in experimentation and an eagerness to deliver quickly. You must have:

  • Strong experience with fundamental user-centered, usability, and interaction design principles
  • Advanced ability to conceive and document solutions through user flows, storyboards, wireframes, personas, prototypes, test cases, or written specifications and user stories
  • Ability to navigate in ambiguity, react quickly and comfortably to change, and drive clarity, actions and decisions
  • Advanced proficiency in industry tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Visio, or Axure
  • A professional and personal portfolio of delightful and useful user experience solutions
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and other web scripting languages and an understanding of how design choices translates in development (ability to write not required)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience

While we recognize that there is not one path to becoming a great user experience design lead, we look for:

  • More than 5 years professional experience with user experience design for software interfaces; 1 year leading projects or managing the work of others
  • Proven experience leading the design, architecting, and optimizing of websites and/or applications, especially consumer-facing and transaction-focused interfaces
  • Degree in a relevant field (HCI, graphic, interactive or communication design)

And although not required, it is an advantage if you can demonstrate:

  • Experience working in and leading teams within agile design and development teams
  • Samples of information visualization and multiple form interface design (e.g., mobile, tablet, 10-foot)
