You can use the TaxAct Consumer Edition products Online (using a web browser) or on your Desktop (download the program). We offer a number of programs and packages to fit everyone's tax filing needs. When you click the links below, they will each take you to a different webpage, and you can click either Online or Downloadable at the top of each webpage to see the Online and Desktop/Download options for that type of return.
The online edition allows you to add multiple returns to your account, so your whole family can access their returns from the same account. You can access the account and return(s) in a web browser. When using the online edition, you are not charged a preparation fee until printing, e-filing, or viewing a PDF copy of the return. There is no additional cost to print or e-file. If the product you have chosen does not fit your needs, you will be given the option to upgrade. State returns are available for a separate fee.
The Federal 1040 Download version allows for multiple returns to be prepared and up to five federal returns can be electronically filed. This program is downloaded/installed on to the hard drive of the computer being used. One 1040 State Edition is included with Desktop/Download Deluxe, Premier, and Self Employed Editions. State programs must be purchased at an additional cost with the Desktop/Download Basic Edition. The Federal Business Desktop Editions allow you to prepare and file one return. To create multiple returns under one account, you may prefer the TaxAct Business Online Editions.
